On an average day, the tug boat would have the standard job of pulling an enormous vessel such as a cruise ship, elegantly navigating them in and out of the Miami port. Testing day was very different, with multiple guests from the media and members of the anchor manufacturing sectors. Along side these members was the founder himself, Don Hallerberg of Fortress anchors.
Hallerberg originally founded Fortress using a concept others believed to be unrealistic, even laughable. Creating light weight marine anchors that were more efficient due to their design alone. Hallerberg was more than happy to put his design to the test, this is when tug boat Hercules came to play, giving Fortress Anchor the final test.
When the crew threw the 65lb Fortress Anchor overboard that day, few expected what happened next. As the anchor set in the muddy bottom of the Biscayne Bay, the line, which was rated to 50,000 lbs tightened as Hercules began its throttle forwards.
Hercules quickly started to struggle and eventually came to a complete stop. At maximum throttle and with the anchor no budging at all, the meter reading came up to 20,000 lbs of pull! All guests from the media and competing companies could not believe it when they saw what happened next!
